Environment
Here, life is lived outdoors: natural ventilation, open doors and louvres rather than double glazing and air conditioning.
A protected natural setting
The cottages are in the Pointe Allègre nature reserve, between sea, mangrove, lake and river. We are surrounded by nature reserves, protected areas and preserved spaces, and we look after this environment: we protect it, respect it, maintain it and shape it with care.

Creole houses that breathe
Our houses follow the tradition of the Creole "case": the warmth of wood, on a solid frame, set on discreet foundations.
There is no air conditioning. By the sea, exposed to the trade winds, our houses are naturally ventilated. Their architecture is open, without glass: louvres, or windows with simple shutters. Every bed has its own mosquito net, and there are also individual fans.
Less electricity
We cut our electricity consumption as far as we can:
- energy-saving bulbs, motion detectors, timer switches and solar lighting;
- heat-pump water heaters;
- efficient refrigerators, propane stoves;
- household linen dried in the open air, and ironing avoided as far as possible;
- we limit the use of high-consumption machines.
A tropical garden
We are in a magnificent, lush tropical garden that brings together a great variety of tropical plants. You will find in particular:
- mangoes, passion fruit, guavas, starfruit;
- coconuts, soursops, avocados;
- breadfruit and West Indian cherries (acerola);
as well as ornamental plants, flowers and orchids.
Local producers close by
We are in close contact with growers in the region who practise agroforestry and mound cultivation, and who sell their produce at the local market in Nogent.
Nothing goes to waste
We sort our waste: plastic, metals, cardboard, glass and household compost. We recover, transform and reuse what is thrown away or destined for destruction. We love local crafts: calabashes, coconuts, seed necklaces.
